I’m Miriah Dufilho, and this site showcases some of my work.
SOME THINGS
I’ve always been a creative, curious person.
I enjoy exploring the whys + hows of the world.
If I don’t know how to do something that would be useful in a project, then I’ll learn how to do it. And if I’m going to do something, I aim to do it to the best of my ability.
SOME RAMBLING
-
I grew up in a small town and, if my 16-year-old self were told where I am today, I’m not sure I’d believe it. With a lack of varying field exposure during this time, I was worried I wouldn’t find something I’d be excited about moving forward. However, in my senior year of high school, I went to vocational school half the day for “Visual & Graphic Communication.” I learned so much from my incredible teacher, and she’s the reason I was able to have any sort of direction for my college career. Taking that course definitely gave me a useful pre-foundation for the vast amount of skills I’d learn at the Herron School of Art & Design.
-
I think it would be agreed upon that I’m an energetic contributor—always happy to take a look or listen if a coworker were to ask. I feel like while a single person can have a great idea, it can only be made better with input and constructive criticism from the versatile professionals around you.

Before this position, I worked for the founder of this company during my undergrad; upon graduation, I started working there full-time as one of five employees. Due to this being a start-up, I had a lot of responsibilities and through the years learned to do a vast amount of different things. The dedication and passion I poured into my work during the nearly six years contributed to improving my skills in the UX field.
Worked with mathematicians, programmers, data analysts, teachers, school leaders and admin., graphic designers, UX/UI designers, a variety of managers, multiple partner companies, and more.

This was my first official UX job; though the first year or so was more of just graphic design as I wasn't super versed in UX. At the Mathematics Assistance Center (MAC), I worked with a group—we called ourselves META (MAC Experience: Technology & Art). This group consisted of two programmers, a videographer/animator, and three of us in the VisComm major. This position helped me understand how to work + communicate with non-UX people effectively.
In the first portion of my time here, I mostly did posters, name tags, signage, and fliers. Later, we started to hone in on the experience that students had when they came to the MAC. The director of the MAC began there in mid-2013, and my team and I came in between late 2013 and mid-2014. During the 2015-2016 semesters, 60,000+ visits were logged at the MAC, and we were able to connect visiting the MAC to better grades in various courses.
